Penn State Hazleton vs. Elizabethtown College (L 0–3: 15–25, 18–25, 15–25; 10/4/2025)


Hazleton battled throughout in a tough road matchup with Elizabethtown, keeping every set competitive and showing resilience against an efficient opponent. Sydney Mack paced the offense with 11 kills on .276 hitting, while Olivia Bilbow and Claire Riera-Gomez each added 5 kills apiece, and Kaytlin Kelley chipped in 4 with a strong .182 clip.


Setter Sophia Del Vacchio ran the attack with 22 assists, and the defense was anchored by Mirabella Medina with a team-high 18 digs. Despite the losses, Hazleton posted 29 kills and 57 digs, maintaining pressure and digging in late during each frame.

 

Penn State Hazleton vs. Penn State Altoona (L 0–3: 22–25, 19–25, 19–25; 10/4/2025)


Hazleton pushed Altoona to the limit, especially in the opening set, keeping it tight until the very end. Sydney Mack led the way with 7 kills and 5 digs, while Claire Riera-Gomez contributed 6 kills and 5 digs and Olivia Bilbow put down 5 kills with a team-best 10 digs. Setter Sophia Del Vacchio was very active, tallying 20 assists.


Sophomore Kyla Harry added 13 digs, and Laura Ballek provided 3 kills. Hazleton recorded 26 kills, 24 assists, and 51 digs, focusing on defense and serving to hang with Altoona across all three sets.

 

Penn State Hazleton vs. Penn State Schuylkill (W 3–0: 25–19, 25–21, 25–10; 10/9/2025)


Hazleton returned home and powered past Schuylkill in straight sets, riding a .303 team hit percentage and balanced play. Sydney Mack and Claire Riera-Gomez each slammed down 13 kills, with Mack hitting .423 and Riera-Gomez .429, while Kaytlin Kelley had a highly efficient 7 kills on .778 hitting.


Sophia Del Vacchio set a season mark with 32 assists, and the team racked up 7 aces, 16 total blocks, and 44 digs, keyed by strong defensive displays from Medina and Bilbow. This dominant performance saw Hazleton close out the final set with a big scoring run, gaining momentum for the home stretch.

 

Penn State Hazleton vs. Penn State York (L 2–3: 25–23, 23–25, 25–20, 15–25, 4–15; 10/11/2025)


Hazleton waged a five-set thriller against York, winning two sets and pushing the undefeated hosts to the brink in front of a raucous crowd. Sydney Mack led with 10 kills and a season-high 31 digs, while Kaytlin Kelley threw down 9 kills with 5 blocks and Sophia Del Vacchio set a match-high 17 assists along with 6 aces and 14 digs.


Claire Riera-Gomez contributed 4 kills, 8 assists, and 22 digs, and Olivia Bilbow added 4 kills and 13 digs. The Lions notched 29 kills and a remarkable 121 digs as they rallied from behind and nearly snatched a win in a decisive fifth set.
